Informal Observation FAQs

For detailed information with screenshots, please review:

How do I start an observation?

Look for the start button:

Web: Green start button (very bottom left)

App: Green start button (very bottom right)

Depending on your screen size it could be a plus button.

How do I save my progress?

You don’t need to. Observation data is saved in real-time, just like a Google Doc. You can close the tab or leave the app if you need to take care of something else.

You will be notified if you lose internet connection.

How do I find an incomplete observation?

Click the “Start” Button then “Continue” (blue box, bottom of the screen) or click here to go to the list.

What will be shared with the teacher?

All evidence, notes, and feedback collected on the observation form will be shared with the teacher.

When will feedback be shared with the teacher?

When you click the submit button. A summary email will automatically be sent to you and the teacher.

How do I wait to share feedback with the teacher?

If you do not want the teacher to receive the written feedback, do not submit the observation until you have had a conversation with the teacher. It is best practice to sit side by side and review your notes and feedback during the conversation.
