How to Take Observation Notes

Tip: Tip! It is recommended that you enter the Observation Date at the top of the page before you begin taking notes.

1. Start by:

Clicking on the text box to begin taking notes.

Tip: Note: Only you have access to your notes.

2. Label a note as being "General", "Teacher", or "Student" content:

Click the "G", "T", or "S" found on the left side of each text box.

Alternatively, press [[Tab]] to change the label.

As a third option, begin the note by typing "T: " or "S: ", which will auto-label it's content.

3. Press [[Enter]] to start a new note.

Or, click below to reveal a new text box.

4. Tag your notes with rubric indicators:

Click "Add tags" in the bottom of each text box

5. Scroll through the list of rubric indicators, and select one that aligns with your note.

6. You can add as multiple tags to each note.

7. Remove tags by clicking the "x" next to its label.

Also, hovering over a tag will display it's title.

8. Add [[bold]] + [[italics]] + [[underline]] + [[strike through]]

Highlight text and choose style, or use the keyboard shortcuts.

9. Assign tags to a specific section of your note:

Highlight a section of text and click the tag icon to add a tag only on the specific section.

10. This allows you to have different tags assigned to different sentences, all in one observation note.

Tip: Tip! You can paste your scripting notes from a different source like a Google Doc or Word Doc to use the rest of the scripting features.

11. Pressing the submit button will:

  • Close your Observation Notes.

  • Notify the teacher to complete their reflection.

  • Set the due date of the teacher reflection to 2 days after the observation.

  • Set the due date of the post-conference to 5 days after the observation.
